Abstract

Most theoretical and experimental studies on the impact of cracks on acoustic waves have been focusing on circular cracks. In real rocks the cracks may be far from circular, and in some situations the cracks may be elongated in a preferred direction. This study considers the possibilities for identifying such non-circularities from measurements of acoustic anisotropy.
