Abstract
Entrapment and distribution of hydrocarbons is of major importance to the upstream oil industry, both in the exploration and development phase. A large number of scientific publications and basin modelling computer programmes have addressed the issue. Highly accurate pore pressure gauges have been developed and are in frequent use.
