Abstract

More than 2 x 10¹²m³ recoverable gas reserves have been discovered in the Southern North Sea. Most of these reserves are present in aeolian and wadi sandstones of Rotliegend age which are concentrated along the southern and western margins of the Southern Permian Basin. However, attention has now switched to the centre of the basin where deeper Upper Carboniferous fluvial sandstones are the reservoir target.
