Abstract

The Central Irish Sea and St. George's Channel basins comprise two linked Late Palaeozoic - Mesozoic basins lying between Britain and Ireland. They are located in ta region of complex basement geology, with structural fabrics inherited from Precambrian, Caledonian and Variscan orogenic phases. Analysis of seismic reflection data from the region has allowed the development of a coherent fault model for the region. This illustrates the influence of deep crustal controls on shallower fault patterns and on the evolution of sedimentation styles adjacent to shallow fault systems.
