Abstract

Recordel seismic wave fields are sampled in time and space . Although temporal sampling is generally very well understood, spatial sampling is still a neglected issue . It should be notel, however, that a recorded 2D line is in fact a spatially sampled version of a continuous wave field, with source and receiver coordinates as sampling parameters. Source and receiver arrays could serve as anti-alias filters, see Ongkiehong and Askin (1988) and Vermeer (1990) . In 3D seismics two sampling parameters are added to this description .
