Abstract
Summary
We present results of elastic 2D full waveform inversion (FWI) of a 50 km profile down to 10 km depth acquired with a 15 km long streamer in the Sumatra region. Data were recorded across the rupture zone of the 2007 earthquake (Mw=8.4), we apply FWI in the forearc basin area. Despite a smooth starting model and complex features at the sea floor, coherent structures appear in the shallow part. At 7 km FWI highlights a structure coherent to the backthrust fault present in seismic images.
