f Contouring with center-line faults using fault geometry to your advantage

Conoco has developed a user friendly interface to several geologic and seismic trapping and modelling software packages offered by vendors. Referred to as the Geoscience Workstation (GWS), its proprietary interface with Landmark/Zycor's Z-Map™ provides a solution to map generation in highly faulted areas: Contouring with Center-Live Faults. Through extensive experience in the application of this method on the NW Shelf of Australia the author has found that, in comparison with contouring seismic data using "opaque fault polygons", contouring with Center-Line Faults is faster, less expensive, more accurate, and results in geologically more realistic solutions that require far less contour editing.
