f Tar mats detection in oil reservoirs by modified rock-eval pyrolysis

Deposition of tar mats is often encountered in oil reservoirs. Localization and quantification of these tars can be useful for petroleum exploration and production. Indeed the occurrence of tar mats causes several problems during production (vertical impermeable barriers, high water cuts,...). On the other hand their qualitative and quantitative study can be helpful for the understanding of oil accumulation process and fluids evolution under reservoir conditions.
