Abstract

In order to obtain a correct interpretation of a vertical electrical sounding (VES), the suppression and equivalence principles must be considered, for generating multiple models as a consequence of the non unicity of the solution of the inverse problem. Among all the valid solutions, Dar Zarrouk parameters obtained after an inversion process using starting models constrained by geological information derived from nearest boreholes, are the more objective. The present study is focused on an examination of the variability of T and S parameters for delineating respectively the most favorable areas for groundwater exploitation and the vulnerable zones to aquifer pollution. The study area has been the Valls basin located about 100 km SW from Barcelona city.
