Abstract
Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) is applied to multicomponent data from the Tommeliten Alpha area in the Norwegian North Sea. A large part of the reservoir is located in a seismic obscured area (SOA) caused by gas in the middle Pliocene (920 m). In earlier work (Ratcliffe et. al. (2011)) we demonstrated improved definition of the velocity and improved PP imaging in the SOA. The present objective is to use our latest version of FWI using frequencies up to 7.5 Hz to improve the P-velocity definition even more which also improves the PS imaging.
