Wavefrom Inversion of Migration Velocity

We present a new method for velocity estimation for shot domain pre-stack depth migration. The new method is shown to be implementable at approximately 50 % additional numerical costs as that of the depth migration. The method is exemplified. We propose that the method can be applied directly as an integral part of full waveform inversion in order to access the low wavenumbers of the velocity model.
