Abstract

We propose new migration weights to account for variations in receiver illumination as well as source illumination, which will better handle non-fixed-spread acquisition geometries. These new weights are derived based on a linearized scattering approximation of the Hessian for reverse-time migration. The receiver illumination weights, which together with source illumination weights are combined to calculate new migration weights, are calculated efficiently using random noise encoding. Experiments on a 3D synthetic and a field dataset give encouraging results.
