Non-linear Gaussian Beam Tomography - A New Method Capable of Determining Highly Complex Velocity Models

In this paper we present a robust non-linear tomography approach, Gaussian Beam Tomography (GBT), based on the Gaussian Beam Summation Method. We tested our tomography approach on the complex Sigsbee2A synthetic dataset. The obtained results demonstrate that the GBT technique is able to yield satisfactory velocity estimates in areas around and beneath complex salt bodies, making it an effective tool to build an accurate salt model.
