Abstract

Summary

When seismic wave propagation in viscoacoustic medium, amplitude dimming, frequency loss and phase distortion caused by attenuation always decreases the resolution of migrated images. In this paper, we propose a common shot multiarrival Q-compensated Gaussian beam migration (GBM) method, which is of practical significance because it considers the viscosity of subsurface medium. First, we analyze the effect of viscoacoustic medium on Gaussian beam’s complex traveltime. Further, we give the implementation workflow of Q-compensated Gaussian beam migration. Finally, we test our method on two 2D synthetic data sets and the result shows that our method can compensate for the attenuation influence of subsurface medium and image the target in viscoacoustic medium accurately. Besides, only a small part of the additional amount of computation is needed, our method is very effcient.
