Abstract
The Quest carbon capture and storage (CCS) project is a fully integrated CCS project developed as part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP), a joint venture between Shell Canada Energy, Chevron Canada Limited, and Marathon Oil Canada Corporation. Although Quest is considered to be in an extremely quiet tectonic location, induced seismicity has been recognized as a potential risk in all large scale injection sites. As a result, microseismic monitoring is a key component of the MMV Plan to ensure the continued assessment of that risk and to provide early notice of any changes. This paper presents the results of passive monitoring at the Quest site through 2016, including the pre-injection baseline period, and the confirmation of the operational sensitivity of the array.
