Abstract
The best geophysical technique for locating dykes of hard, igneous rock cutting coal measures is to measure and model their associated magnetic anomalies. Using data obtained with a proton magnetometer, we have investigated the geometry of two dykes in the Northumberland coalfield of northern England, the Causey Park dyke of Carboniferous age and the Acklington dyke of Tertiary age.
