An aeromagnetic and gravity investigation was
conducted in the Rio do Peixe basin, NE Brazil. Several
geological and geophysical evidence indicate a strong
structural control of pre-existing upper crustal weakness
zones in the development of the graben architecture of
this basin. The digital processing of the aeromagnetic
data supplied an analytic signal map of the area, which
together with a three-dimensional gravity modeling
revealed the magnetic signature of two major structural
domains and an estimate of the internal geometry of
the rift basin, respectively.
