Abstract
In order to describe the phase velocities and attenuation coefficients of the P- and SV- plane waves obliquely transmitted through an elastic randomly layered 1-D overburden with homogeneous statistics the generalized O'Doherty-Anstey formulae can be applied (Shapiro and Hubral, 1994, subsequently referred to as S&H).
