Abstract
This paper presents a study of the crustal structure and sedimentary sequences of the Jan Mayen Ridge and the Jan Mayen Basin (Fig. 1). These structures, constituting the Jan Mayen microcontinent, were split off from East Greenland in the late Oligocenc-carly Miocene. By the use of OBS data we define the continent-ocean transition along the western margin of the Jan Mayen Basin, being conjugate to the East Greenland continental margin.
